Fourth Conference on Research Infrastructures 2007 in Hamburg
The Fourth European Conference on Research Infrastructures was held in Hamburg, the 5 and 6 June 2007. It was jointly organised by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the European Commission, in cooperation with ESFRI. It was hosted by DESY, the Deutsches Elektronen-Synchrotron, and was attended by more than 400 research stakeholders.
A fabric of world-class Research Infrastructures (RIs) in Europe was recognised as playing a key role in the construction of a unified and attractive European Research Area (ERA). European RIs are however facing several major challenges. Five of these challenges have been identified and were further developed and discussed during the two days of the Conference.
